My travels sometimes take me over US-491 between Montecello, UT and Gallup, NM. Until 4 years ago, this highway was known as US-666 (the Devil’s Highway). A small group of petty, malcontent Jesus Freaks petitioned the Federal government to have it redesignated due to the Satanic references associated with the numbers 666. This to me was just assinine. This shows how narrow-minded some, repeat, some Christians can be. What? Having this scenic byway designated as US-666 somehow caused people to become Satinists? I think not!! I do agree that there is a general ”moral decay” in this country, but it was not caused by this highway’s numerical designation. These people need to grow up and get a life. What will be their next target, I-69?????
