Faith In Humanity Restored, Somewhat??

During my last extended visit to Las Vegas before Labor Day weekend, I lost track of my shaving kit. On the 30th, I went in to thw WWW to ’spruce up’ and use the ATM. Since the ATM is on the way to the restroom, I stopped by there first. I put my shaving kit on top of the ATM while I conducted my business. After that, I forgot about it as I walked away from the ATM toward the restroom putting my ‘loot’ away. As soon as I got to the restroom door, about 35 ft from the ATM, I realized I didn’t have my shaving kit, and returned to the ATM to retrieve it. BUT, IT WAS GONE. Mind you I had traveled a total of 70 ft, in about a minute. I asked at the Security Desk if anyone had turned in a shaving kit. The Officer cousulted his lost item list and said that it hadn’t been turned in. I also checked with the Sports Book betting desk and the Bartender, but to no avail. I had to purchase all new stuff for a shaving kit to the tune of about $25.00. I had a spare bag already. Later in the day, I checked back with Security, but it still hadn’t turned up. This made me wonder what the H___ had happened in America. Who would want someone else’s shaving kit. It contained nothing valuable to anyone else; used razor, shaving cream, used toothbrush and toothpaste, an almost empty bottle of Brut aftershave, etc, etc. The handle on the bag was almost completely torn off. Like I said, nothing of value. So why was it taken?
As it turns out, it wasn’t. The next day I was sitting at the Bar having my morning caffine (iced tea) when I casually mentioned to the waitress that someone had taken my shaving kit. She said that she had found one on top of the ATM and turned it in to Security yesterday AM (she is the one person that I didn’t ask about it at the time). This, of course, sent me immediately back to the Security Desk. This time I looked over his shoulder when he was checking his list. I saw an entry for a “travel kit”. I said that was probably it. I was asked to describe the contents, which I did. Sure enough, it was there all the time. MY FAITH IN HUMANITY IS RESTORED, SOMEWHAT. I’m glad to know that no one stole it, but I have to wonder at the calibre of the Security staff at the WWW, whose synapses are so rusty from lack of use that they couldn’t make the connection between a “shaving kit” and a “travel kit”???????? I guess the old addage is true: When you pay minimum wage, you get minimum wage help.
Oh well, nothing lost….. I guess I just bought the replacement items for the contents of the kit a bit prematurely.
